The Shiley™ Decannulation Cap is a 15mm white cap designed to facilitate the tracheostomy decannulation process by occluding the tracheostomy tube and redirecting airflow through the patient’s upper airway and vocal cords. It attaches securely to Shiley™ fenestrated inner cannulas with a green 15mm connector and compatible Shiley™ pediatric tracheostomy tubes.
Used as part of a structured weaning protocol, the decannulation cap allows clinicians to assess a patient’s ability to breathe, speak, and manage secretions through the natural airway — a critical step before tube removal.
