How to use Mckesson ETCO2 Nasal Sampling Cannula?
- Position cannula by inserting tips into nostrils
- Thread cannula tubing over ears and adjust slide upwards for a comfortable fit under the chin
- Attach oxygen supply tube to oxygen source and luer connector to CO2 monitor
- Set oxygen to the prescribed liter flow
- Check for gas flow throughout the device
- Check positioning on device to assure proper detection of CO2
Warnings
Accuracy of CO2 monitoring can be diminsihed if the patient has a perforated septum or during a time of mouth breathing. Don not use on patients with obstructions in one or both nostrils.
