How to use McKesson Non-Sterile Unna Boot?
- Clean and dry the affected leg.
- Measure the length of dressing needed and cut to size.
- Unroll the dressing and apply the zinc oxide paste side directly to the skin of the leg.
- Begin wrapping the dressing around the leg, starting at the base of the toes and working upwards towards the knee.
- Overlap each layer by approximately 50% to ensure proper compression.
- Continue wrapping the dressing around the leg until the entire affected area is covered.
- Secure the dressing in place with a cohesive bandage or medical tape.
- Check the dressing regularly to ensure that it is not too tight and is not causing any discomfort.
Contraindications:
- Patients with a known hypersensitivity tothe product itself or to its components, including zinc oxide orcalamine.
- Unna boots are not intended to provide compressiontherapy in non-ambulatory patients
