The Beckman Coulter Hemoccult Developer 15 mL Fecal Blood Test is for professional use to monitor gastrointestinal bleeding during physical examinations. This widely used professional diagnostic aid screens patients with iron deficiency, peptic ulcer, ulcer-active colitis and other conditions. Hemoccult Developer may also be used in screening programs for colorectal cancer but it should not be used exclusively when testing for colorectal cancer. The test requires only a small sample of stool specimen by applying a small drop onto the specimen.
Hemoccult Developer with yellow cap contains a stabilized mixture of aqueous solution containing less than 5 percent hydrogen peroxide and 75 percent denatured ethyl alcohol. Only two drops are required for testing. It takes approximately 60 seconds for results with blue color to exhibit a positive test result.
